Here is a great set up and some tips on drilling from @emilymarquisdesigns - “ I set a spare bench pin set up with a bit of bees wax. By melting the wax to the end, I can easily access with my drill bit. My first and foremost tip on drilling small(and sawing delicate) is plenty of lubricant to avoid overheating and snapping. When I work with gold (and silver) I do not want to chance snapping a drill off in a hole which requires some time and labor to remove. By keeping my hands free and the wax right next to my project, I know I won't make an excuse to not lubricate between EVERY drill. I use the visual cue of a metal shaving running up the drill as the next time to add wax. I am using a 0.66mm drill bit through 2mm sheet, I can promise you I snapped a lot off in my silver practice sheets before reminding myself to use wax!” We’ve all been there where we snap drill bits 🙋♀️ this is some solid advice and I love melting wax to the bench pin 🤯 Thank you for sharing with us!!! #metalsmithsociety #jewelrymakingtipoftheday #flexshaft #howtomakejewelry
