Here is a tip to help you save every bit of silver dust from your bench from @heatherlouisejewelry - “I was always dreading cleaning my catch tray because I had to sweep up and spoon everything into a jar bit by bit 😣 I bought some poster board and roughly measured out my tray before taping the pieces together. I recommend taping both sides so Silver dust doesn’t stick. Now when I’m ready to transfer my scraps and filings I just pull the paper tray out bend it to create a funnel and pour it all into a jar! I have two trays so I dedicated one to filings that may be contaminated by steel tools. I made both tray inserts for 79¢. I’ll be honest my trays usually get pretty full before I sort everything but here is a mini demo of my new system! It’s also important to keep your scrap organized. My system is dirty scrap (ex:soldered pieces), clean scrap and then filings/silver dust. Don’t forget to keep your saw blades, paper towels, sandpaper or anything else that may have small traces of silver! It all adds up to big $$ in the end!” Such great advice and with silver prices skyrocketing now is the time to make sure you save every little bit to send to the refiner!
