Back to this steel block and what makes them special: this block is harder than most on the market, and will not ding or dent over time. It is a beautiful work surface perfect for stamping and forming and it has a glass like surface which will ensure no marks are transferred to your work. It can be used in a hydraulic press as blocks are ground parallel to within .0001β. Part of what makes it such a high quality block is each one is hardened to 60HRC (through hardened, not case hardened, this is an important, expensive process) Most blocks on the market are cast resulting in a porous finish, they are sometimes machined to clean the surface but almost always have ridges, tool marks, and other surface imperfections that will transfer to your workpiece.
