#sponsored For this week’s #tooltalktuesday I wanted to show a light box option available exclusively from our friends @gesswein.jewelry I have had the opportunity to test out a few light boxes and here is what I like about the Gesswein Medium Photo Light Box (817-0702): It is compact, and easy to take out and put away making it ideal for smaller studio spaces. I don’t have the space in my studio to leave a Lightbox out all the time so I like that I can just pull this out easy. You can use your phone to take photos! I also tested this with my Nikon D750, can you guess which pics are taken with the iPhone? No matter what light box I’ve used I’ve never been able to get a perfectly white background because truthfully that is achieved in photoshop by cutting out the background (or if you have a different method email me) however by adjusting the brightness and warmth after the fact I have some pics that look pretty darn close. You have some variability in adjusting the light, one rocker switch controls fluorescent lights (5000°K +/-10%) located in the front, base and back panels while another rocker switch controls the super bright LED light panel located at the top/front of the interior of the lightbox. I find by playing around with those I can balance out the light. Lastly I find this box is good at reducing shadows! All the lights inside are defused and this is tremendously helpful when it comes to photographing shiny, sparkly things. They also have many different size options the Mini (817-0700), Small (817-0701), Medium (817-0702), and Large (817-0703) be sure to swipe to see a size comparison, I definitely could use a Mini or Small. Thank you to Gesswein for supporting the page and our community with code MSS5 you save 5% and each purchase also supports Metalsmith Society! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! To edit the pics I’m simply cropping, adjusting the brightness, warmth (and a little sharpness) in the Photos app. ☺️
